PORT INFRASTRUCTURE MODERNIZATION & DIGITAL TRANSITION

This prospective study is a partnership and collaborative initiative anticipating the challenges and opportunities for maritime and river ports by 2070.

“Infraport” questions, explores, and imagines the future of maritime and river ports to initiate a dynamic in the search for solutions to future challenges. A catalyst for ideas and reflections, this collaborative project paves the way for resilient, robust, ecological, and attractive ports by 2070.

Hosted by the Ideaslaboratory hub, “lnfraport” allowed for the exploration of future economic, ecological, and technological challenges of port infrastructures through clarification and exploration workshops, creativity sessions, and testimonies from port stakeholders. A wide range of themes were addressed, including port operations, city-port relationships, port governance, and biodiversity, as well as cross-cutting issues such as energy, mobility, and digital transformation.

CREATION OF A 3D-PRINTED UPPER LIMB PROSTHESIS

A look back at an exciting project led in collaboration with HUB 3D Print and Ottobock, where the challenge was to implement a fully digital workflow—from scanning the patient to designing and 3D printing the prosthesis—while also enhancing comfort.

Thanks to topological optimization with Siemens NX and HP Multi Jet Fusion printers, we developed an exoskeleton that is both lightweight and strong, capable of supporting heavy loads while remaining discreet and close to natural anatomy. The prosthesis takes inspiration from the human body: rigid on the inside (like a forearm) and flexible on the outside (like skin and muscles). The structure is made from innovative materials, and essential components of the myoelectric hand—such as the battery and circuit board—have been cleverly integrated.

Tested by patients throughout the development process, this prosthesis offers improved comfort and discretion in daily life.

DEVELOPING A TECHNOLOGICAL SYSTEM FOR NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASE PATIENTS

Since 2022, Y.SPOT has been supporting the Fonds de Dotation Clinatec in its COVEA Neurotec project, which aims to study the effects of photobiomodulation on neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and Lewy body dementia. The Endowment Fund is developing a certified helmet for clinical trials, called the Luciole Cap. It enables precise control of the photobiomodulation dosage and allows for double-blind studies to be conducted with patients in a nearly autonomous manner.

Our contribution to this project encompasses the full development of the control electronics architecture, along with the implementation of the embedded software stack. A production run of 60 headsets is planned for delivery in 2025, in preparation for a first clinical trial targeting Lewy body disease. Y.SPOT continues to provide technical support to the Clinatec Endowment Fund, particularly in system validation, device testing, and regulatory documentation processes.

Y.SPOT open lab

This white paper is a study conducted by the newPIC chair of the Paris School of Business, commissioned by Y.SPOT. It highlights the organizational principles and strategies of an open lab in deep tech to address societal, environmental, and economic challenges. Based on more than 50 interviews and international comparisons, it offers a framework for analyzing open innovation ecosystems.

ÂŦ Y.SPOT fully understood our needs and went far beyond our expectations. The qualities that we appreciated and that enabled us to obtain the deliverables were: understanding and challenging the need; integrating the Y.SPOT teams into our ecosystem in order to gather the structuring information; tenacity in gathering the information; unfailing dynamism; the strength of proposal to redirect and finally, the perfect execution of the deliverables in terms of content and form. A very fine collaboration. Âŧ Translated from French

ÂŦ The creation of extended ecosystems; combining technological prowess, intellect and the ability to create links between non-competitive verticals is essential to enable us to generate the next generation of packaging for our consumers. The collaboration within Y.SPOT is an excellent example of research and industry partners coming together to discover solutions to the long-term challenges we face. Âŧ Translated from French

ÂŦ Innovation is first and foremost an ecosystem issue: it's about bringing together all kinds of players to contribute technologies, business expertise, industrial know-how, entrepreneurial dynamism, customer feedback, etc... In 2022, we launched an innovation challenge with a consortium of partners, including the CEA and Orange, to create new spectator experiences for Paris 2024. 150 start-up candidates, 5 winners, and today 3 projects deployed that have convinced the public and event organizers. The CEA teams' innovation expertise was key to the success of this project: preparing the start-ups for their pitches by helping them question their lean canvas; supporting the winners in challenging their concept, thinking through the experience and interacting with potential users; prototyping and testing solutions in real-life situations, and taking them through to the pre-industrial phase. A great mastery of open innovation. I'm looking forward to working again with the CEA and its network of players in the field of innovation. Âŧ Translated from French

ÂŦ With a clear development objective, but starting from a blank sheet of paper, we called on Y.SPOT right from the start of our continuous, non-invasive blood glucose sensor project. We integrated them into our teams both in the dimensioning and usage study phases, in collaboration with our industrial suppliers. Their multi-disciplinary contributions were decisive in the creation of our first fully functional prototype, and in the development of the product it prefigures. This experience shows us the relevance of having such a team in the CEA Grenoble ecosystem, with prototyping resources to support projects at low and intermediate technological maturity levels, their skills and know-how doing the rest.
